The 18 months Post-doctoral Research Fellow (PDRA) in Renewable Energy Technology will be based at Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent campus. The work will focus on state-of-the-art technologies in Micro Turbine Generators (MTG) systems. MTG have the capability to help meeting energy targets with cost competitive, low emission characteristics, fuel-efficient and fuel flexible operations. With these characteristics, biofuel burnt MTGs can support the increasing share of renewables and meet the challenges of the modern electricity grid.

This industry/academic based project is funded by the Innovate UK and will lead to development of a 12 kWe biogas-fuelled MTG system as suitable for the sub-Saharan African and south Asian countries, as well as in the UK and international market. The post holder will be responsible (with supervision) to deliver on the novel works on the design and modelling of a biogas-fuelled micro-combustor for this 12 kW MTG system.
