About us

The Nursing and Midwifery Council regulates nurses and midwives in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland setting standards of education, training, conduct and performance so that nurses and midwives can deliver high quality healthcare throughout their careers.

Our strategy for the next five years sets out how we will develop our work to protect patients and the public effectively and efficiently. It places dynamic regulation at the centre of what we do and sets out where we think we should focus our energies and resources in order to promote standards of care and practice.

About the role

We are in the middle of a major review of our Educational standards which considers what society needs from nurses and midwives in the future. We have just consulted on changes that will affect the way that nurses and midwives are educated; this included consulting on standards of proficiency for registered nurses and our education framework.

You will be part of the senior team responsible for implementation of the new education and practice standards. Outstanding leadership skills, a detailed understanding of Nursing and Midwifery education in University and in placement, and the ability to motivate and inspire others will be essential, as well as the ability to articulate complex messages to a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
