The Danish School of Education, Department of Educational Sociology, Aarhus University invites applications for an ordinary professorship in the Danish history of education with emphasis on the institutional and/or intellectual developments related to specific institutions such as kindergarten, preschool, primary and lower secondary education, vocational education and training and/or higher education. The Danish history of education in a contemporary and interdisciplinary perspective should be seen as part of a larger social, cultural, political and international context. The professorship is a permanent position, starting on 1 March 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position

The professorship is being advertised with a view to appointing a professor with considerable international research qualifications in the field of the history of education with regard to social, cultural and political changes from a contemporary perspective. It is important that the successful applicant has experience of forming research networks in the area of educational studies. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in the broad range of subjects offered at the Danish School of Education. The successful applicant will also be expected to further the development of the research environment in the area of the history of education at the Danish School of Education. The applicant will teach on various degree programmes at the school with the aim of ensuring that the students acquire knowledge of and qualifications in taking a historical perspective on the development of education.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange, and to provide academic leadership relating to research, education and academic development.
