Professor / Associate Professor and Assistant Dean, Curriculum

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is a partnership between two of the world’s premier institutions of higher education, Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. The medical school, established at NTU in Singapore, offers a five-year MBBS degree jointly awarded by both institutions. The School welcomed its first cohort of medical students in August 2013 and there are ambitious plans for growth. 

The School now invites applicants with a strong international reputation in education and/ or research to apply for an appointment at Full Professor / Associate Professor level with a concurrent appointment as Assistant Dean, Curriculum, which will be based full-time in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of education in an innovative new medical school in a globally vibrant environment. Reporting to the Vice Dean, Education, the appointee is expected to lead the ongoing curriculum review and development at LKCMedicine. She/he will be medically qualified (MBBS or MD), have a strong track record in undergraduate education, and international experience of educational management and quality improvement.

Primary Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Oversee on-going review, development and innovation within the MBBS curriculum
  • Provide academic leadership of educational quality improvement initiatives, including oversight of documentation required for accreditation and review purposes
  • Lead a team of educators to drive on-going curriculum review, development and innovation, and provide academic oversight of educational quality assurance documentation and processes 
  • Work collaboratively with teaching faculty (scientists and clinician educators), educational researchers and the educational quality assurance team to implement curricular change and informed innovation 
  • Participate in the delivery of the MBBS Curriculum. He/She is also expected to undertake teaching and educational responsibilities for the training of medical students and postgraduate research students. Teaching methods will include use of team-based learning and eLearning.
  • Contribute to faculty development initiatives, including the development of postgraduate education courses (certificate, diploma and/or masters in education)
  • Provide leadership for collaborative educational research initiatives with Imperial College London and contribute to other educational research projects in areas of strategic importance to LKCMedicine
  • Work in partnership with Imperial College London to share experience of good educational practice and develop collaborative student, faculty and educational research initiatives
  • Participate in academic committees and other administrative requirements of the School and the University as appropriate

Person Specification:

  • Primary medical qualification e.g. MBBS, MD 
  • Relevant higher degree e.g. MD, MEd, EdD, PhD
  • Proven track record of strong leadership and ability to drive change
  • Excellent communication skills and an appreciation for constructive teamwork
