Tenure-Track Associate Professor in Public Policy on Mental Wellness (Ref.: 201701628)
Applicants are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor in Public Policy on Mental Wellness in the Faculty of Social Sciences (as tenure home) and the School of Public Health, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Policy, Public Health or a related field, with a strong record of teaching and research excellence in social policy in civil society, mental health and wellbeing. Preference will be given to those with expertise in advanced understanding of the contribution of intra-personal factors (e.g., emotional/psychological regulation, coping with major life events), socio-cultural environment (e.g., income level, social support, stigma and discrimination), and societal dynamics (e.g., social divides, media portrayals) to mental wellness across the life span, regionally and globally from the U.K., Europe or North America. The appointee will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and is expected to play a leadership role in researching the multifaceted relationship between the society and mental health and how to translate the findings into public health practices and policy interventions to improve health outcomes at the population level. He/She will also contribute to research and teaching on mental wellness and policy in both Faculties. Mental health interventions and policy formulation are complex undertakings. Interdisciplinary engagement and international collaboration are therefore vital for the success of this position. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
