UQ is offering a great opportunity to combine work and diploma level study with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traineeship Program.
UQ is proud to be offering trainees the opportunity to take the first step in their career through this 12 month traineeship which results in a Diploma of Business. Trainee roles will be hosted across a number of various work areas, Faculties and Institutes of the University.
The University of Queensland is one of the nation's top three universities with a 45,500-strong student community and more than 7,500 academic and professional staff. Its major campuses are at St Lucia, Gatton and Herston, in addition to teaching and research sites around Queensland and Brisbane city. It is expected that these Traineeships will be at St Lucia although there may be opportunities at our Herston and Gatton campuses.

Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. All traineeship positions are identified positions and the occupant must be able to provide documentary evidence of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent as part of the application process.
As a trainee, your duties will look to reflect the requirements of a Diploma in Business.
The role provides an introduction to:
- collection and distribution of mail;
- maintaining stock levels of stationary and reordering when necessary;
- answering phones and responding to emails;
- responding to staff and student enquiries;
- information gathering and reporting;
- document and report generation using Microsoft Office and internal UQ systems; and
- filing, copying and scanning.
Some roles will provide the opportunity to rotate through other areas of administrative work in larger University departments.
Ideally you will possess:
- some previous work experience;
- great communication skills;
- enthusiasm, with a strong desire to learn and develop;
- an eye for detail; and
- the ability to work well with others.
Pay and conditions
This is a 12 month full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW 1 level. The salary will be in the range of $46,599.04 to $48,665.21 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5%.
