The School of Aviation offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including flight training and airborne research. The Flying Operations Unit, located at Bankstown Airport, delivers flight training and supporting theory as required by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and facilitates airborne research activities.

About the role

  • $101,524 - $119,683 (Level B) $123,310 - $141,471 (Level C) plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • 5 year convertible contract tenure track position
  • Part-time 24.5 hours per week

Applications are invited for the appointment of a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer (Level B/C academic). This is an academic position with responsibilities including the conduct of research in an area of aviation/transport management, supervising higher degree by research students, supervising honours students, and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate coursework levels.

A Level B academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.

A Level C academic is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.

The role of the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer reports to the Head of School, Aviation.

About the successful applicant

  • PhD or equivalent in an appropriate field.
  • Demonstrate successful research record in an area of aviation/transport management or aviation/transport safety consistent with the profile of courses taught within the School.
  • Publications in international refereed journals.
