We seek a dynamic academic wanting to join one of New Zealand's most respected and innovative Statistics programmes. The successful applicant will have experience in university teaching, a strong research record and will be ready to play a leading role in the development of Victoria's programmes in statistics and data science. The Statistics group is highly connected within the University so there is the opportunity to work with colleagues from across the University, including in biological, physical, health, social, earth and information sciences, engineering and the humanities.

The position of Lecturer is similar to Assistant Professor in the North American system while Senior Lecturer corresponds to Associate Professor. In either case the role will be permanent and the level of appointment will simply reflect academic experience and achievement to date. Potential will be a key factor in the decision to appoint.

The appointee will undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in statistics and data science, including in the applied statistics programmes. They will promote learning among students with a wide range of mathematical backgrounds. They will undertake supervision of postgraduate research students, seek external research funding and maintain a research programme of international standard, in keeping with the university's emphasis on high-quality scholarship.

The appointee will also contribute to building on the University's engagement with public and private sector stakeholders in statistics and data science, including through externally funded research.
