The Institute of Mechanics and Shell Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering invites applications for the position of 

Chair (W3) of Structural Mechanics

to be filled by October 1, 2018. The holder of this position has to represent the field of Structural Mechanics in research and teaching. Teaching activities will cover both classroom and distance learning Civil Engineering Degrees in German and English.  Other duties include participation in the academic self-administration and contributions to interdisciplinary research activities.

The applicant is expected to acquire third-party funding from national (e.g. DFG, BMBF) and international (e.g. EU) funding agencies and industrial organisations. A strong motivation for cooperation across the Faculty of Civil Engineering, with other Faculties of TU Dresden and with non-university research institutions in the Dresden area is expected.

The applicant should be able to prove the strength of his/her research potential by substantial publications in appropriate journals. Experience in the areas of nonlinear continuum mechanics of building materials, multi-scale-, multi-phase- and multi-physical-investigations of materials, as well as interaction phenomena are expected. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements according of § 58 of the Act Governing Academic Freedom in Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsisches Hochschulfreiheitsgesetz – SächsHSFG).
