Macquarie is the university of pioneering minds. Globally recognised as one of Australia's leading research universities, Macquarie is a place where extraordinary new possibilities come to light. We've helped people to hear, introduced wireless internet technology to the world and broken through traditional boundaries by appointing Australia's first female vice-chancellor.

At Macquarie you will join a vibrant community of diverse perspectives, all working towards a brighter future for our communities and our planet. Surrounded by a beautiful parkland campus, our students and staff are free to explore and discover, supported by facilities including a high-tech library, private teaching hospital, gym and pools, childcare facilities, a campus train station and the newly expanded Macquarie Centre shopping complex next door.

Join us and start seeing the world in a different light.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is uniquely placed within Australia with the creation of MQ Health – the Macquarie University Health Sciences Centre – a fully integrated university-led academic health campus that brings together our own Macquarie University Hospital and Clinics with the academic faculties. Our vision is to be a world-class university health sciences centre that integrates clinical care, learning and research to improve lives, captured succinctly in our purpose HEAL. LEARN. DISCOVER.

Our faculty is on the move with a bold ambition to create educational and research programs with a difference. We value collaboration between health professionals and with our patients. We aim to serve our community, but our outlook is global, an approach that is exemplified by our innovative Macquarie MD. It integrates applied medical science with professionalism, research and cultural responsiveness, as well as extended international clinical experiences to ensure doctors develop all the skills they need to be globally engaged clinicians.

In 2018 the Faculty will accept its first intake of students to the AMC accredited Doctor of Medicine (Macquarie MD). This is a new program embedded within an established University that has a culture of transformative learning, and within MQ Health.

We aim to prepare our graduates for the predicted environments in which they will practice: as future leaders in healthcare, who are patient-centred and safety-focused, culturally responsive, globally aware and equipped to work within increasingly digital health systems.

We are searching for experienced clinical academic leaders who are also visionary medical educators able to embrace new paradigms in learning and teaching to lead and develop the Macquarie MD. You will have medical qualifications, be registered to undertake clinical practice in Australia, and hold recognised Australian College speciality qualifications. You will be committed to the experiential model of learning in the faculty and can bring people on board through your enthusiasm and change leadership skills.  You must be able to work collaboratively with others.

You will be either a senior clinical academic leader with a depth of experience in learning and teaching innovation, or an accomplished clinician with ambition and passion for learning and teaching who would like to grow with the faculty. You will have an interest in and capability to mentor junior clinical staff from either a clinical or teaching perspective.

You will be clinically active preferably in one of the following areas:

  • Medicine (preferably in aged care or cognitive neurology)
  • Cardiology
  • Surgery (preferably in the area of cancer surgery, for example breast surgery)
  • Infectious diseases
  • Primary care with experience in children’s health
  • Clinical Pharmacology

If you share our passion for innovative clinical learning and teaching we invite you to join us.
