Job Description

The College of Arts & Sciences Writing Program at Boston University expects to hire multiple full-time Lecturers in Writing to begin in the fall of 2018. Responsibilities include teaching three theme-based first-year writing seminars per semester, with 17-18 students each, and participating in program service and professional-development activities. The initial term of appointment is two years, with the possibility of renewal.

The Writing Program is an independent instructional unit with nearly fifty full-time Lecturers. The program’s primary responsibility is to offer the two-semester sequence of theme-based writing seminars that is the standard way BU undergraduates satisfy their writing requirements. We seek candidates who demonstrate experience in and a commitment to teaching writing to a diverse student population. BU’s Class of 2021 includes 22% international students, 19% underrepresented minority students, and 18% Pell Grant recipients. Information about the Arts & Sciences Writing Program is available at http://www.bu.edu/writingprogram/.

We welcome applicants from all disciplines, including the natural and social sciences and professional fields. Submit a letter of application (addressed to Chris Walsh, Interim Director, College of Arts & Sciences Writing Program) and curriculum vitae to Academic Jobs Online.
