The Biomedical Research Centre in the Bristol Dental School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Research Associate / Senior Research Associate.
The successful applicant will act as trial co-ordinator on two prostate cancer randomised controlled trials (RCTs) based at the Education and Research Centre, Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol. There will be research, visits and meetings taking place in Southmead Hospital (North Bristol NHS Trust) and the successful applicant will be expected to travel there.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the implementation and day to day running of a 2x2 factorial feasibility RCT (Pre-EMpT: Prostate cancer Exercise and Metformin Trial) which will randomise men with localised prostate cancer to a physical activity and metformin intervention or a control group. Additionally, the post-holder will be responsible for collation of trial data, data input and data analysis for a small pre-surgical RCT exploring Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) outcomes in men with localised disease. The post provides an exceptional opportunity for a researcher to develop their skills as part of a large, multidisciplinary team.
Whilst the primary role will be co-ordination of the two trials, there will also be opportunities for participating in publications, conference attendance and presentations, attending short courses and other training; as appropriate to the post-holder’s interests and expertise.
