The Adelaide Medical School encompasses the disciplines of General Practice, Medical Sciences, Medical Specialties, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Rural Health and Surgical Specialties. The Discipline of Surgical Specialties comprises clinical academics, researchers, and clinical titleholders.
The University of Adelaide is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Surgical Specialties with a strong interest and track record in research (neurosurgery or breast endocrine surgery), research leadership, clinical expertise and teaching, for stage of career. The Discipline of Surgical Specialties has an excellent international reputation for its research in simulation, cancer surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
The Discipline is particularly seeking to build capacity in translational research in neurosurgery and/or breast endocrine surgery.
The responsibilities to the University of Adelaide position include leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and development of a high quality research program relevant to the Discipline. Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to evaluate and provide, academic support to the Department of Surgical Specialties including the promotion of a culture of research and teaching excellence. The successful applicant will be expected to teach across a range of campuses including RAH, TQEH and LMH.
You should have a strong academic background and show evidence of successful leadership, scholarship, research, teaching, clinical expertise and administration for stage of career. The successful candidate will undertake appropriate tasks within the Discipline supervised by the Head of Discipline.
Salary: Level C ($115,310 - 132,966) per annum.
Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.
Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately.
Eligibility Criteria: Registered with the Medical Board of South Australia (AHPRA)
To be successful you should have:
- MBBS or equivalent
- Registered with the Medical Board of South Australia (AHPRA)
- Practicing clinician with postgraduate Fellowship of College e.g FRACS specialising in either neurosurgery or breast endocrine surgery
- Track record in administration, research and teaching commensurate with Level C
- Experience in conducting high quality research in a recognised area of strength with the discipline area
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate students in a tertiary clinical and academic setting.
