The Opportunity

The appointee will assume a leadership role in further strengthening of the core offerings and on-going design and development of the curriculum, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses both on campus and through flexible modes of delivery, conduct and lead research in relevant areas and contribute to the University’s research directions. The appointee will also be expected to provide a strong leadership and management role as Head of School. The University assumes leadership in ICT for the wider University Region and the appointee will be expected to contribute to this crucial role.

The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification in Computing Science/Information Systems with an undergraduate degree in the same area is also preferable;
  • Extensive teaching experience at the University level;
  • Experience in curriculum development and a good knowledge of professional accreditation;
  • Experience in postgraduate research supervision and a demonstrated capacity to develop and win grants;
  • A distinguished record in research and publication in relevant fields;
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically develop research, form research teams;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral).

Preference will be given to applicants with: Experience in distance and flexible learning education and evidence of excellence in teaching in a multicultural environment.

The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: Professor FJ$129,078 to FJ$139,543 per annum

The University may pay an inducement allowance to secure the services of an exceptionally well qualified candidate.

In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.
