Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Russell Laboratory ( in The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS), to commence before June 2018 for two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in marine ecology, thermal biology or other marine biology related disciplines. They should have a demonstrated publication record of question-driven science in the field of marine biology, organismal response to temperature and/or ecosystem functioning research. They should also have a toolkit comprised of a solid foundation in the field ecology, laboratory experiments, and computational biology related but not limited to Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) or species distribution models, as well as proven capacity to lead fieldwork expeditions. Experience with the use of SCUBA is desirable.

The appointee will be based at SWIMS ( located in the Cape d’Aguilar Marine Reserve on the southeast corner of Hong Kong Island. He/She will combine field and laboratory work at SWIMS and analytical laboratory at the University’s main campus. The primary duties will include conducting field sampling of subtidal invertebrates in marine waters around Hong Kong, running lab-based thermal performance experiments and, where possible, parameterizing models.
