The Role and Your Responsibilities

This key leadership role works closely with the Executive Director Communications to deliver world class digital content that will help build and protect the reputation of RMIT and enable the delivery of our Ready for Work & Life strategy.

Part of the Communications leadership team, you will build and support RMIT's reputation as a source of insight on global issues and participate in public discussions related to technology, design and innovation. Working closely with Marketing, as Strategic Editor of RMIT's content, the content strategy will cover all audience segments ensuring a consistent and co-ordinated approach.

This role is both strategic and operational, and ensures the content is driven through a range of innovative channels This will include campaign based communication, and the creation of a digital content hub for external communication to stakeholders including Industry, Media, Students and across our research agenda.

Skills and Experience Required

With proven experience in the leadership of a highly-effective communications function or digital newsroom, you will be looking to make your mark in this exciting time within the University. Excellent communication skills, contemporary experience in content creation in a fast paced environment and demonstrated passion for delivering creative and impactful content is essential, as is a working knowledge of the media and social channels. Proven experience in successfully leading and influencing organisational change and business improvement in a complex environment is critical. As well as the ability to influence a workplace culture of high performance and promoting accountability for outcomes. A degree and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and with significant relevant professional experience at a similar level are essential.
