The Role and Your Responsibilities

As a senior member of a dynamic team, and supporting the Assistant Director, External Communications, you will manage and deliver an effective RMIT-wide external communications agenda with a strong focus on proactive and reactive media relations and issues management. You will build, leverage and maintain key media and stakeholder relationships across broadcast, print and digital channels and implement a best practice approach to university-wide media relations and issues which will position and protect the University as a leader in higher education and research.

Skills and Experience Required

You will have demonstrable experience in communications planning, delivery and measurement that contributed to strategic organisational objectives. Experience influencing stakeholders, organisation change and business improvement in a complex environment is key. Your exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated passion for delivering creative and impactful content as well as encouraging a culture of high performance and accountability will see you succeed in this role. A Tertiary qualification in an appropriate field (eg. Journalism, public relations, communications) or substantial and relevant experience is required.
