About the Department of Management
The Department of Management advances the vision of the CUHK Business School, “To develop global business leaders for the Asian Century”, through transformative educational programmes, impactful research and knowledge, and our presence and touch with the community and society. The Department comprises a team of academics with diverse ethnicity and extensive international experience who engage in a wide range of management research in entrepreneurship, human resources management, international management, organizational behavior, and strategic management. The Department has a proven record of excellence in international business and general management research. In the UTD Ranking 2017, our department is ranked No. 3 worldwide based on publication counts in Journal of International Business Studies, a top international business journal, for the period of 1995-2017. Besides, the Department is a founding member of the Asia Academy of Management, an academic organization that fosters management education and research in the region. The Department currently hosts three research centers, including Centre for Entrepreneurship, Centre for Family Business, and Centre for International Business Studies. The Department of Management now invites high calibre candidates in the field of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, preferably with emerging phenomenon focus (e.g. Digitalization, Business Sustainability, Family Business, One Belt One Road, China Business), for a teaching track position named “Professional Consultant” (may carry a courtesy title of “Associate Professor or Professor of Practice in Management”) and to be involved in the teaching and academic support of its executive degree programmes (such as MBA/EMBA/MiM, etc.). The Business School first offered executive degree programme in 1993, aiming to nurture top-notch management talents to meet the needs of Hong Kong, Mainland China and the world. It now offers a number of executive degree programmes based in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In light of rising corporate and managerial complexity and new challenges facing senior executives, the Business School sees new opportunities for its executive degree programmes to groom the next generation of executives who can bring and sustain competitive advantages of enterprises regionally and globally.
Applicants should preferably have (i) a higher degree in any business or other related discipline; (ii) strong track record in teaching reputable executive degree programmes; and (iii) good connection with the professional community, an international outlook, outstanding communication and networking skills, a long-term vision as well as strong commitment for executive education. Familiarity with the region is an advantage.
The appointee is expected to (a) deliver high quality teaching in the executive degree programmes and provide support to the programmes’ development in the global context; and (b) provide input for the overall success of executive degree programmes, enhancing the quality and reputation of the programmes, strengthening connection with the profession as well as community engagement.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years and renewable subject to mutual agreement.
