The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) is looking to recruit an Alumni Relations Officer to join a dynamic, highly respected and fast-growing Development and Alumni Relations team. A new role, the Alumni Relations Officer will work closely with the University’s Careers Service to develop and implement an institution-wide alumni mentoring scheme to support Bristol Scholars and other students from a widening participation background. As part of DARO’s Engagement team, you will work to recruit, manage, support and steward a pool of mentors, and ensure that this new scheme complements the overall programme of activities and increases the University’s engagement with alumni to support student experience and employability.
You will work in close partnership with the Alumni Mentoring Co-ordinator in the Careers Service who will manage the scheme, to hand match students with alumni mentors, enabling students from a widening participation background to benefit from an expanded network and a better understanding of their options post university. You will be an organised self-starter, who shares our ambitions to rapidly increase the scope and impact of the scheme in its second and subsequent years. You will be passionate about supporting students, helping them to realise their goals and make the most of their Bristol experience.
You will have prior experience in developing a project, problem-solving and independent planning, as well as having worked with influential and senior individuals, preferably in a Higher Education setting. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills you can deploy to enthuse partners and stakeholders about the scheme. Experience in planning events, marketing and communications to support the delivery of a programme, project or scheme would be a distinct advantage.
