Research Associate: DUNE DAQ and Data Analysis

Job number  ACAD102947
Division/School  School of Physics
Contract type  Open ended contract staff
Working pattern  Full time
Salary  £32,548 - £36,613
Closing date for applications  06-Feb-2018

Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate in the Particle Physics Group of the School of Physics at the University of Bristol (tinyurl.com/particle-bristol) to work on the DUNE experiment (dunescience.org).

The Bristol group plays a leading role in developing the DAQ system for DUNE. The post holder would play a central part in this effort, developing and evaluating DAQ electronics and data compression algorithms. This includes the use of simulated and prototype data to evaluate the effect of the DAQ design choices on DUNE physics analyses. There will also be opportunities to analyse protoDUNE data and to contribute to the development of the DUNE physics analysis programme.

This position is funded through the DUNE pre-construction grant which ends in Sep 2019; given recent announcements (tinyurl.com/stfc-ukus-dune) we are optimistic about follow-up funding.

The application deadline is Tuesday 6th February 2018. Interviews are expected to be held the following week. Please apply via our online system (see http://tinyurl.com/bristol-dune-job). Please provide three references by the same deadline (ask your referees to send them to Jonas.Rademacker@bristol.ac.uk). The start of the employment contract is negotiable, but we hope to fill the position as soon as possible.
