The Faculty of Science at SFU is a national and international leader in research and science education. Generating $30-million in annual research support, the Faculty’s 190 tenure track faculty are organized in eight departments: Biological Sciences, Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Physics, and Statistics and Actuarial Science. With 4,600 FTE undergraduate students,450 graduate students, and a significant number of post docs, the Faculty prides itself on the exceptional education and research opportunities afforded its students.

The new Dean will bring a successful track record in significant, administrative roles in well-respected, research intensive universities. The Dean will have a strong track record in research and teaching, which they will bring to bear in their role in promoting excellence in both. A strategic leader with the vision and insight to lead an exceptional Faculty of Science, the new Dean will be bring strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative approach to academic administration. Candidates must have the academic and research credentials to merit an appointment as a professor at SFU.
