Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK’s leading research-focused universities and a member of the Russell Group with an outstanding reputation in the humanities and social sciences.

The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is seeking to appoint to a Lectureship in French. The appointed candidate will be expected to be able to deliver teaching and assessment across undergraduate and, as appropriate, taught postgraduate programmes. Duties will include research and publishing, convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, (co)-supervising PhD students, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the life of the School in a more general way, for instance by undertaking appropriate administrative and pastoral duties.

Applications are invited from specialists in any area, but a research background in the visual culture of the French-speaking world (post-1850) is especially welcome. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent and experience of undergraduate teaching are essential. 

The post is a full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1 September 2018. Starting salary will be in the range of £40,865 - £43,152 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
