Overview:

The English Department wishes to appoint a part time (0.5 FTE) Lecturer in Creative Writing, with a specialism in poetry, and the ability to teach other forms of narrative and non-fiction writing at first-year level. The post-holder will be a published poet and will undertake the normal teaching, research and administrative duties expected of a member of the Department. In all areas they will be expected to show leadership appropriate to their position. 
Candidates should be educated to degree and postgraduate degree level (or equivalent) or have equivalent professional experience. They will have a strong background of achievement in one of the core areas of activity within the Department, including Creative Writing, as well as an excellent publication record. The ability to teach at any level within the area of expertise, and across a range of subjects at a more introductory level, is essential, as are excellent communication and organisational skills. 

The post is 17.5 hours per week and permanent, starting from 1 September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The starting salary will be the QMUL minimum entry point for Lecturers (point 35; £40,865 per annum pro rata). Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
