SENIOR DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, LEADERSHIP GIFTS
Leadership Giving at Boston University is comprised of a team of fourteen staff, based in Boston and covering domestic regions, responsible for raising capital gifts of six and seven figure gifts toward the Campaign for Boston University. This team collaborates closely with the school based teams, as well as with principal gifts, planned giving and alumni relations in order to fund programs, scholarships, professorships and more at the university.
The Senior Development Coordinator for Leadership Gifts performs a wide variety of professional, administrative and staff support tasks for the members of the Leadership Gifts team. Providing general office support for a number of Leadership Gifts Officers, this role will serve as a point of contact for major prospects and donors, help to organize and execute high level events, prepare communication materials for meetings or presentations, provide data analysis and research support, and coordinate travel and track expenses. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to prioritize the workload are critical for success. The selected candidate must be able to handle confidential material responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals.
The Sr. Development Coordinator will perform data analysis and prospect research using a number of data bases and internet research tools. Ability to run multiple research reports using BBEC system, which produce sensitive and confidential data is critical, as is the ability to establish and maintain office, filing and computer systems for prospect files and donor giving figures, contact reports, and UIS/Prospect Tracking updates for a number of Leadership Gift Officers.
This position will provide preliminary prospect and giving research, including general work with Internet browsing tools, then will collect and compile files on top prospects and be able to participate in cultivation discussion and strategy sessions. This role must also assist in providing a stewardship support to a number of top prospects. This role also will perform general office support duties, including scheduling meetings, maintaining appointments and calendars, arranging travel, ordering supplies, tracking expenses, compiling Presidential briefing books, assisting with correspondence and outreach, both written and verbal, to prospects, screening and directing phone calls, ad hoc coverage of front desk, and processing university paperwork.
The Sr. Development Coordinator will also assist with the development, execution and follow up of multiple high level events. This includes direct prospect and donor contact, also including invitation design, drafting and editing, assisting with large mailings, occasional support during the event, and follow-up post event. This person will provide communication support to three Leadership Gift Officers. This includes packet preparation for meetings and presentations, assisting with the creation of summaries of strategic initiatives, assembling screening books and packets of information for high level prospects.
One to three years of relevant or related experience is required. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships in a highly collaborative environment is a must, as is the ability to manage up in working directly with managers; engaging laterally by building relationships of trust and mutual value added with colleagues across campus; and managing down to ensure the support and cooperation of staff both within and outside of Development.
Candidates must have a bachelors degree; and a minimum of one to three years advancement experience. Additionally, advanced written communications, analytical skills, collaboration, and project management skills are required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
