The University of Bristol’s Veterinary School is seeking to recruit an experienced Abattoir Manager with commitment and a passion for operating a commercial abattoir in a teaching environment.
 
The position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and develop operations in the only University-owned abattoir in the UK; involving undergraduate and industry-facing teaching, research and commercial activities.

The successful applicant will ensure that the facility consistently operates to the highest possible standards of animal welfare, food safety and quality, whilst balancing its commitment to teaching and training with commercial activities.

The successful applicant will also work together with the abattoir team and line management to develop the teaching and training portfolio, as well as the commercial output of the facility.
 
The successful applicant is expected to have significant experience in the operation of a commercial abattoir and cutting facility to a high technical standard, demonstrable competency in all aspects of slaughter and butchery operations and previous employment history in practical teaching/training.
