The Library at the University of Tasmania provides high quality, client-focused services and resources to support the University's research, learning and teaching, consulting and community engagement activities.
The University Librarian provides visionary leadership and management of the University's Library Services and is responsible for: developing, implementing and articulating the Library's vision and strategic plan; delivering high quality services that contribute to the achievement of the University's strategic priorities; building visibility and communicating the Library's impact and value; managing the allocation of the Library's financial, physical and human resources; fostering a strong performance-based organisational culture; providing advice through participation in high-level committees; and representing the Library and the University in local, national and international forums.
The University Librarian will have postgraduate qualifications and eligibility for membership of the Australian Library and Information Association. S/he will be a strategic and innovative practitioner with extensive experience and achievement in managing a large library or similar organisation. S/he will be a confident and persuasive communicator able to manage complex stakeholder relationships and provide high level advice, analysis and direction on current and emerging issues in higher education and their impact on library services.
This is a full-time position for an initial period of five years based in Hobart.
