Working within the Research Development Unit, the Research Development Officer/Executive is key to building research capacity and capability across the University within our Research Centres and Institutes. This post offers an excellent opportunity to support a team of leading academics as well as to help shape, develop and establish Coventry University's exciting, fresh and new research direction.

The successful candidate will take a proactive, creative, challenging, questioning and facilitative approach in working primarily with academics within the Research Institute for Future Transport and Cities at Coventry University, to meet its key strategic aim of delivering the University's 'Excellence with Impact' research agenda. The post holder will be responsible for the development and growth of a strategic pipeline of high quality research and new income generation within this Institute. 

We are interested in hearing from candidates with previous business, research and funding proposal development and a talent for identifying and exploiting research and commercial funding opportunities. Together with a proven ability of preparing and writing quality research proposals with impact, and a track record of supporting successful applications to high profile funding organisations the successful candidate will draw on specific knowledge or experience of a discipline relevant to Future Transport and Cities be able to evidence success in securing research project funding.

If you have excellent communication and business and funding proposal development and evaluation skills, knowledge and experience of relevant research funding sources and relevant funders such as EPSRC, Leverhulme Trust, EU H2020, Innovate UK and have a research-based Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline we'd like to hear from you. 

We are also willing to consider applicants who would like to develop into this role.  This role of Research Development Officer/Executive provides an excellent opportunity for either a trained researcher or a candidate with industrial experience who is looking to develop their research development skills, knowledge and experience.

The Research Institute for Future Transport and Cities brings together a large group of over 250 multi-disciplinary academics and postgraduate researchers working across the innovation supply chain in six core areas of Design, Materials & Structures, Systems, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Business – all focused on creating safe and sustainable transport solutions fit for the cities of the future.
