This is a Full Time (35 hours) Fixed Term (12 months) post.
The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning and implementation of a new, externally sourced, cloud-based solution to manage the universities research activities. The post holder will have specific responsibility for ensuring the solution is delivered within the specified time frame, within budget and to the required quality level.
The Research Grants Management System (RGMS) will manage both the pre- and post-award research processes, which will enable the university to improve its internal management of research grant activity. The RGMS will support the costing and pricing of all research activity, manage the approval and submission process, support award set up, milestone planning, track expenditure and provide a user-friendly, robust system with the flexibility to adapt to evolving requirements.
The RGMS will deliver Phase One of a long-term project to support the management of research activity across the university. The post holder will also be involved in the scoping and preparation of the business case for Phase Two of the project. Phase Two will seek to deliver a system to manage the outputs of research activity, support Durham University’s publicly-facing staff profiles and enhance internal and external reporting.
The post holder will report to the Head of Research Operations, but will work closely with colleagues in Computing and Information Services, member of the project implementation team as well as colleagues in faculties, departments and across professional support services.
