This post is full time and for a fixed term of 24 months or until 30 November 2019.

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to pursue experimental work in the field of atomic and laser physics within the Durham Atomic and Molecular Physics group. The position is associated with a feasibility study in collaboration with Msquared lasers and funded by the UK National Quantum Technology Hub: Sensors and Metrology.

The project is entitled “Microwave and terahertz sensing using Rydberg atoms”. The work follows recent research results Eg. Nature Photonics 11, 40 (2017).

The successful applicants will work directly with Dr. Kevin Weatherill and Prof Charles Adams and liaise directly with industrial partners. The applicants will also work closely with other members of the AtMol research group, and will be expected to undertake an active role in the laboratory activity. They will be expected to present their work to project partners and at conferences, and assist in the guidance of graduate students working on related experiments.
