Tasks: The research focuses on Computer Vision and Computer Graphics for Medical Imaging within the interdisciplinary research project “NeuroFusion”. The objective of the research project lies in the development of a neurosurgical assistance system for medical personal which visualizes the characteristic strengths of various imaging modalities in a single view. For this purpose, novel image registration and –fusion methods have to be developed so that a joint visualization of preoperative imaging, such as MRI and CT, as well as intraoperative imaging, such as 3D-ultrasound, stereo- and thermal imaging, can be achieved. Therefore, we aim to develop a generic mathematical framework for multimodal image registration and –fusion. Furthermore, the data shall be visualised by classical visualisation techniques as well as in augmented reality.
