The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Communication Technology, Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks offers a position as

Research Associate / PhD Student
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The position, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is limited until 29. February 2020. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Balancing familiy and career is an important issue. The post is basically suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment. The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).

Tasks: Preparation of requirements profiles and gross specifications for the Mobile Edge Cloud (MEC) technologies as well as related evaluation concepts; development of QoS models for the MEC; definition of network architecture and interfaces as well as specification of the mobile edge cloud; investigations on highly-available, fail-secure, distributed and low-latency edge cloud computing and its implementation; planning of network and resource management, network slicing and QoS management; mobility analysis by network-coded strategies; embedment of control algorithms.

Requirements: university degree in electrical or computer engineering; knowledge of the basic principles of communication networks; knowledge of network coding and their mathematical foundations; english in spoken and written; ability and willingness to work independently, conceptually and scientifically; interest in practice-oriented, interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from research and industry; programming knowledge (Python, C, C ++, ns-3); knowledge in the area of IEEE802.11p LTE, Mobile Edge Cloud, SDN/NFV and Network Slicing is also helpful. We are looking forward to strengthen our team with outstanding, self-motivated doctoral students who are interested in research on 5G communication, LTE, Mobile Edge Cloud (MEC) technologies and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) / Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
