The person appointed will be expected to already have, or have the clear potential to develop, a high-profile research portfolio in a discipline that is related to polymer science and which aligns with anticipated future directions for funding by major research funding agencies and industry. We would welcome applicants for whom this post would be their first chair.

You will be based in the School of Materials and will be expected to engage in research, teaching and administration, and to take leadership responsibilities in guiding future directions for polymer materials science and engineering activities in the School. They will be required to secure substantial research funding, to supervise and guide postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers, to deliver timely high-impact presentations and publications of the research with protection of intellectual property where appropriate, and to engage in and/or initiate collaborations where this is relevant. Teaching will be within the School of Materials and allocated in accordance with School practice under direction from the Head of School.

The topics to be taught will normally focus on various aspects of polymer science and engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Administrative duties within the School of Materials will be assigned by the Head of School. There will also be opportunities to become involved with wider roles at Faculty and/or at central University level if you have interest in pursuing such roles, but this is not a requirement of the post.
