Applications are invited for a plant molecular and cell biology lab manager in the School of Biological Sciences.

As plant molecular and cell biology lab manager, you will be responsible for operation and maintenance of laboratories working in this area. We are looking to support four core technical areas: plant molecular biology, plant bio-imaging, use of the Wolfson Photosynthesis Suite and plant pathology. You will require expertise in experimental design, implementation and analysis in these core areas. You will work closely with core technical staff and academic research staff, research fellows and postdocs, research postgraduates, MSci and BSc students in delivering this support.

You will also be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective management of the plant molecular and cell biology research laboratories. This includes ensuring the smooth functioning of all equipment, managing the ordering of communal supplies and associated budgets and overseeing the proper use of chemicals and equipment.

The role is varied and an ability to work independently and proactively to high technical, academic and interpersonal standards is essential. The successful candidate will therefore have extensive experience of relevant technical approaches, ideally having a doctoral degree in a relevant area.
