The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Finance Portfolio Planning Manager is responsible for the portfolio investment planning for RMIT projects. This involves working closely with the Enterprise Architecture team and Business Technology Partners, understanding the demand from the business and their strategic alignment.
Working closely with the Portfolio Management Office the role will:
- Drive investment planning and project portfolio forecasting
- Undertake Business Case analysis from a viability perspective
- Ensure project initiation controls and financial approvals
- Manage analysis of overall Project Portfolio budget/spend
- Assurance of Project financial management disciplines, including forecasts, monthly reporting, expenditures etc.
This role is responsible for a range of strategy and investment management activities, planning parameters and decision making processes.
This role will work closely with the IT Services, Property Services group and Enterprise PMO and is expected to be fully aware of all aspects of the University's policies and actively participate in the management of programs.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have a demonstrated ability to independently analyse and interpret a wide range of financial information to make well informed decisions, and deliver sound recommendations for managing complex problems. High level of proficiency in writing clear and concise reports along with well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, and to interact effectively with all levels of the organisation including internal and external clientele. Significant understanding and experience of portfolio investment management processes and performance. Strong knowledge and extensive experience in project finance and investment prioritization. High level of competency in the use of IT systems, preferably SAP (Finance), Hyperion Planning and advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.
A relevant post graduate qualification (or progress towards same) together with a membership of a professional association (CPA/ICA) and/or extensive experience in a Finance Portfolio Management role in a large, complex organisation.
