College Advising Corps-Boston University (CACBU) is an affiliate of College Advising Corps, a national non-profit organization that works in partnership with institutions of higher education to increase the rates of college enrollment and completion among low-income, first-generation college and underrepresented high school students. CACBU College Advisers are well-trained, recent college graduates who work as a full- time college adviser in a high-need Boston-area high school. Support students to navigate the complex processes of college admissions and matriculation and securing financial aid. Work to foster a college - going culture within the schools they serve, which is one of the factors determining whether students will pursue higher education. Work for 1-2 years in a paid AmeriCorps service positions and receive a set living allowance as well as a benefits package including health and dental, educational award and tuition remission. Currently accepting applications for a position in the 2017-18 cohort at an alternative education high school (ASAP-06/30/2018).
Bachelors degree required. Highly prefer bachelor's degree graduates of a Boston-area college or university, preferably earned in May 2017, December 2016, May 2016, or December 2015. Boston natives who earned their bachelor's degree outside Boston, or Bachelor's degree graduates of other College Advising Corps partner institutions are also preferred.
