Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Global China and Migration in the Department of Sociology and the Department of Geography, to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences, as well as research experience and expertise in globalization, migration, employment, well-being or social psychology in migration and inequalities. They should have excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and in collaboration with a research team; an excellent publication track record and a strong background in advanced qualitative or quantitative analyses in social sciences research. Experience in big data analysis would be an advantage. The appointee is expected to write publications, grant proposals and reports, and contribute to teaching, general administrative and any other duties as assigned. He/She will have ample opportunities to work with research professionals as well as stakeholders in mainland China and globally.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
