Senior Research Associate/Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (several posts) (Ref.: 201701274) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Master/PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Engineering, or related fields of study, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Native Cantonese speakers are preferred. They should also have strong programming skills in C/C++/MATLAB/Python/R, or others related to AI/Big data applications; extensive knowledge in machine learning and AI algorithms, especially in data mining/image analysis/natural language processing or others related to healthcare applications; strong mathematical/analytical foundation, problem solving skills, flexibility in acquiring new knowledge. Those with experience in software developments for machine learning/AI algorithms are highly preferred. The appointees will involve in a AI/Big data project for healthcare applications. They will have opportunities not only to explore their practical knowledge in cutting-edge AI/Big data technologies, but also to learn advanced therapeutics/surgical treatment.
Job duties include (1) leading a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to help develop AI/Big data software/algorithms for efficient diagnosis, therapeutics and surgical treatments; (2) communicating with physicians/clinicians to provide solutions/insights and translate research/clinical requirements to concrete deliverables/milestones; (3) investigating diverse algorithms/techniques, implementation, experimentation and technical feasibility to fulfill specific scientific purposes; and (4) assisting to prepare documentations including scientific research papers, technical reports, and grant proposals.
