Ref: AD0603
Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to turning creativity into careers. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.

An opportunity has arisen to work within a team of specialist technical and academic staff, providing support to students studying film production at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contributing to the delivery and success of collaborative projects across complementary subjects.

Under the line management of the Senior Technician, the successful candidate will deliver and support technical and health and safety workshops and demonstrations to groups of students on existing and new equipment, software, resources, processes and techniques; issue and receive equipment and resources to and from stores, and undertake first line maintenance, stock checking and auditing; ensure processes are followed and documentation produced to maintain and manage health, safety and welfare; and provide effective and reactive technical support throughout the working day.

You will have experience across a broad range of filmmaking techniques, including set construction, traditional and digital picture and sound acquisition, lighting for studio and location, and digital post production, and it is desirable you will have experience of working in higher or further education. An understanding and appreciation of workplace health, safety and welfare is essential, as is the ability to work as a member of a team and independently using your own initiative.

You will need to be highly flexible in your approach to the working day and environment as this post will involve evening and weekend working, on a rotational basis, both on and off the University’s main campus.

You must possess GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent, in English and Maths and a level 3 qualification in a relevant related subject. A degree level qualification, or significant experience in an appropriate field, would be advantageous. The successful candidate will ideally hold a full UK/EU driving licence, to assist with the transport of materials, equipment and resources to and from locations.
