University Innovation Fund Collaboration Manager (3 year fixed term contract)
Grade 8 - £49,149 - £56,950 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high calibre individual to work with Scotland’s universities and key stakeholders to drive forward the delivery of Scotland’s University Innovation Fund (UIF).
Launched by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) in 2016, the UIF is a new and ambitious outcome driven approach that incentivises universities to collaborate on the delivery of national outcomes aligned with the Scottish Government’s economic strategy. It also forms part of the wider innovation policy framework that includes Universities Scotland 5 point action plan and the Scottish Government’s ‘Innovation Plan’ published in January 2017.
Following a year of transition, the UIF national outcomes for AY2017-20 have now been set and an exceptional individual is needed to lead universities in the next stage of the delivery of their shared aims and ambitions.
With exceptional knowledge of the challenges and opportunities associated with knowledge exchange, commercialisation and innovation, the Collaboration Manager will work with the SFC, HEIs and other significant stakeholders to drive forward collaborative elements of the UIF national outcomes. This will require highly effective communication and organisational skills as well as an ability to influence, negotiate and act with diplomacy. The post holder will also lead on the development and implementation of a framework for reporting and evaluating the impact of the UIF approach at a national level and a proven ability to work with quantitative and qualitative data will be essential.
This exciting opportunity requires an exceptional leader and negotiator with a passion for knowledge exchange, innovation and partnership working. If that person is you and you would like to make a major contribution to the economic, social and cultural future of Scotland then we would like to hear from you.
This is a three year fixed term post that is funded by the SFC. The successful candidate will be hosted by the University of the West of Scotland. Given the national context of this role, the post holder will be expected to work flexibly, including travel and working remotely.
Applications for secondments would be welcome. You should discuss this with your current employer before applying.
