This position will be located within the University of Queensland Precision Sensing Initiative (PSI), a joint initiative between the Schools of Mathematics and Physics and Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (http://www.smp.uq.edu.au/psi). The PSI aims to translate next generation sensing research at the University of Queensland into industry-ready technologies for the biomedical, aerospace, resources and defence industries; to develop new partnerships with industry; and to strengthen the Universities engagement with existing partners such as Lockheed Martin, NASA and Boeing Australia.

The role

The successful appointee will manage the PSIs Optoelectronic Integration Facility, provide operational and technical and strategic support to researchers in the Precision Sensing Initiative in the fabrication, integration and packaging of precision sensing devices, and engage as appropriate with relevant industry stakeholders.

The person

Applicants should have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of micro/nano device fabrication and characterisation, optoelectronic integration/packaging, wafer bonding, and fibre pigtailing. You should also possess the ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the Precision Sensing Initiative and Optoelectronic Integration Facility at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2.5 years at at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,811 - $104,214 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $108,589 - $121,930 p.a.).
