The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study. The programme is run by the Centre for English Language Education.
Preliminary Year tutors are primarily involved in the delivery of a portfolio of credit-bearing modules to students enrolled on undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China (UNNC). Dependent on individual tutors’ aptitude and experience, there is also scope for their involvement in projects such as the design and delivery of summer schools and other bespoke training packages.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in the following subject areas: Mathematics and Computer Science.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or in a subject with a high mathematical content, recognised QTS (qualified teacher status) as evidenced by an appropriate PGCE or other professionally accredited qualification and have experience of full-time teaching in Mathematics/Computer Science.
Salary will be within the range of RMB 358,062 – RMB 427,546 per annum depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
Posts are available from spring 2018, although later start dates would be negotiable, initially to be offered on fixed-term contracts with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo China for a period of up to three years. Contracts may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.
