Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development

Manchester Metropolitan University has developed a new vision and a clear strategy. Its ambition is simple: to be the best modern university in the sector, where students and staff alike are equipped with every resource to excel, and play a full and rewarding role in strengthening Manchester’s enviable reputation as a global university city. With a prominent position at the centre of the Northern Powerhouse, a refreshed academic strategy, a strong financial platform, an award-winning estate, and ambitious investment plans, few universities could be better placed to succeed.

As part of its significant, multi-million pound, ongoing investment strategy, the University is committed to creating a truly world-class campus and learning environment in the heart of Manchester. To achieve this it is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development. A newly created role, this is an exciting opportunity to maximise the connectivity between these service areas, driving high levels of provision to enhance the student and academic experience, reinforce the centrality of the University to the city and its communities and ensure excellent value for money.

The new Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer and form a key part of her newly configured Professional Services Leadership Team. A proven ability to balance strategic leadership with operational delivery will therefore be vital. S/he will demonstrate a sustained track record of delivering complex transformation programmes involving people, infrastructure, systems and culture change and possess superb commercial instincts and first-rate communication skills; given the significant amount of stakeholder engagement activity inherent in the role.
