The Faculty of Science and Engineering is one of the newest at the University but is expected to become one of the biggest as the University rolls out its detailed, long term plans. The University expects to triple its number of science and engineering students to over 3,000 within the next few years. The first crop of UNNC science and engineering students began to graduate in 2012 and Master of Science degrees will be offered in a range of subjects in the near future.
Applications are invited for the above post in the Faculty of Science & Engineering which is one of the newest divisions at the University but is expected to become one of the biggest as the University rolls out its detailed, long term plans. The first intake of UNNC engineering students was graduated in 2012 and a number of Master of Science degrees is offering and will be offered in a range of subjects in the near future.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of Architecture, Built Environment, Civil Engineering and Building Information Modelling, to play a lead role in collaborative research projects and conduct ongoing original research and publications in the areas of architectural environment engineering.
Candidates must hold a CIBSE recognised (or equivalent) degree and PhD in Building Services Engineering. Evidence of ability to conduct research at an international level is essential and the ability to attract funding for major research projects is a distinct advantage. Experience of teaching and tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution is also essential. It is expected that applicants will have a successful track record in building services engineering design practice, or a well-defined research agenda, and that they will be able to substantially contribute to the preparation and delivery of teaching in the following areas:
- Acoustics and lighting design
- Electricity and built environment
- Fire protection design
- HVAC design: Natural and mechanical ventilation, heating, air-conditioning, and ductwork
Salary will be within the range of £35,550 - £47,722 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
This post is available from beginning of Spring Semester in February 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to five years. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
