With $83 million of new commercial backing and in partnership with recently formed company Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd, UNSW is seeking more than 20 researchers, engineers and technicians from industry and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of our world-leading research in silicon quantum electronics.

SQC has a 5-year business plan to build a 10-qubit prototype quantum computer in silicon. The company builds on more than 15 years of research in the development of a quantum computer in silicon at CQC2T, where Australia has established a globally unique approach to building qubits in silicon using single atoms. The company is located at UNSW alongside CQC2T, which has more than 70 researchers, technical staff and students based here.

We are seeking a candidate with experience in low noise, high frequency cryogenic measurement to help develop control and measurement electronics essential to the development of a silicon-based quantum computer. Ideally the candidates will have experience of semiconductor processing in a clean-room environment.

The research program will include the development of experimental wiring and microwave electronics used in high-frequency multi-qubit experiments for the detection and control of individual spins in silicon, the controlled coupling between them, and the coherent transport of quantum information.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a truly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working at the forefront of global quantum computing internationally. This is one of more than 20 positions currently open for applications. View the full list of available roles on the CQC2T website.

Closing date: Applications close at 11:59pm on 31 December 2017 AEDT. We encourage all candidates to complete the application process as soon as possible. Potential start dates are negotiable for the successful candidate.
