Quantum Computing MBE Expert for Atomic Electronic
- AU $102–164k + 17 per cent superannuation and leave loading
- Unique opportunity to join a new start-up in university setting
- Be part of the world’s leading team in silicon quantum computing
With $83 million of new commercial backing and in partnership with recently formed company Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd, UNSW is seeking more than 20 researchers, engineers and technicians from industry and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of our world-leading research in silicon quantum electronics.
SQC has a 5-year business plan to build a 10-qubit prototype quantum computer in silicon. The company builds on more than 15 years of research in the development of a quantum computer in silicon at CQC2T, where Australia has established a globally unique approach to building qubits in silicon using single atoms. The company is located at UNSW alongside CQC2T, which has more than 70 researchers, technical staff and students based here.
We are seeking an ambitious crystal growth expert to design, characterise and measure multi-qubit devices in silicon towards the development of a silicon-based quantum computer.
The MBE expert for atomic electronics will be required to fabricate and measure atomic-scale qubit devices with controlled dopant profiles in silicon. The work will consider scalable 2D and 3D architectures fabricated using a combination of STM-lithography and crystal growth by MBE in an ultra-high vacuum environment.
With substantial investment in this research effort, this research is poised to make significant worldwide impact.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a truly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working at the forefront of global quantum computing internationally. This is one of more than 20 positions currently open for applications. View the full list of available roles on the CQC2T website.
Closing date: Applications close at 11:59 pm on 31 December 2017 AEDT. We encourage all candidates to complete the application process as soon as possible. Potential start dates are negotiable for the successful candidate.
