With $83 million of new commercial backing and in partnership with recently formed company Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd, UNSW is seeking more than 20 researchers, engineers and technicians from industry and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of our world-leading research in silicon quantum electronics.

SQC has a 5-year business plan to build a 10-qubit prototype quantum computer in silicon. The company builds on more than 15 years of research in the development of a quantum computer in silicon at CQC2T, where Australia has established a globally unique approach to building qubits in silicon using single atoms. The company is located at UNSW alongside CQC2T, which has more than 70 researchers, technical staff and students based here.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced physicist or engineer who aims to excel at the measurement of multi-qubit devices in silicon for scalable quantum computing. The successful candidate will have experience in epitaxial growth, scanning probe work on semiconductors, and/or electron-spin resonance to the development an isotope enriched environment for a silicon-based quantum computer.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a truly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working at the forefront of global quantum computing internationally.
