Quantum Computing FPGA and RF Electronics Technical Engineer
- AU $101–126k + 17 per cent superannuation and leave loading
- Unique opportunity to join a new start-up in university setting
- Be part of the world’s leading team in silicon quantum computing
With $83 million of new commercial backing and in partnership with recently formed company Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd, UNSW is seeking more than 20 researchers, engineers and technicians from industry and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of our world-leading research in silicon quantum electronics.
SQC has a 5-year business plan to build a 10-qubit prototype quantum computer in silicon. The company builds on more than 15 years of research in the development of a quantum computer in silicon at CQC2T, where Australia has established a globally unique approach to building qubits in silicon using single atoms. The company is located at UNSW alongside CQC2T, which has more than 70 researchers, technical staff and students based here.
We are seeking a highly motivated FPGA and RF electronics technical engineer to oversee the company’s electrical measurement facilities with responsibility for designing, implementing and maintaining high frequency electronics on cryogenic measurement platforms. The successful candidate will be at the heart of assembling the quantum computer, working alongside electronics engineers and physicists at the design, assembly and testing stages of silicon based quantum computers.
The position will include overseeing and maintaining our extensive research facilities for the high frequency, low noise measurement of semiconductor spin qubits. The successful candidate will also be involved in the development of FPGA and RF electronics as well as general maintenance of equipment, laboratory space and ensuring a safe operating environment for staff and students.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a truly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working at the forefront of global quantum computing internationally. This is one of more than 20 positions currently open for applications. View the full list of available roles on the CQC2T website.
Closing date: Applications close at 11:59pm on 31 December 2017 AEDT. We encourage all candidates to complete the application process as soon as possible. Potential start dates are negotiable for the successful candidate.
