New Post - Permanent appointment
Based: Liverpool

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with vision and ambition who is looking for a new challenge in the Higher Education sector within a dynamic and growing organisation.  The post holder will be expected to lead a team that will build on our current international teaching portfolio in order to increase the breadth, diversity and quality of LSTM’s educational programmes now that LSTM has obtained Degree Awarding Powers.

The Dean will be a key member of the LSTM Executive Team, working with the Director and Senior Management to develop and deliver new educational programmes with broad relevance and appeal to students from around the globe. The post will support colleagues within LSTM to deliver our  strategic aims in learning and teaching expansion. This is a unique opportunity to join a world-leading  global health organisation  committed to delivering educational programmes that will develop and shape the workforce of specialists needed to tackle current and future global health challenges.

We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of achievement in Learning and Teaching development within the HEI sector. The individual will be able to show innovation in their approach, underpinned by a detailed understanding of modern education principles and practices. The ability to think strategically, project a vision for education within LSTM and motivate staff from diverse backgrounds and disciplines will be crucial. We expect the Dean to be able to develop and implement teaching programmes that fit a business model that is sustainable, cost effective and in line with LSTM’s mission. Candidates should be educated to PhD level or equivalent in a higher education related topic and be a higher education accredited teacher.

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research and education in tropical diseases.  Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics. The School boasts a truly culturally diverse environment, accommodating more than 800 MSc and PhD students annually from 70 countries. In recent years the School has experienced unprecedented levels of growth and in September 2017, achieved Degree Awarding Power (DAP) status.
