Location:     Sutton Bonington
Salary:     £29,301 to £38,183 per annum (pro-rata if offered a job share) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above post based within the School of Biosciences at the Sutton Bonington Campus.The team leader role will support the Plant Sciences building although this may be subject to change depending on the School’s operational requirements in the future. 

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the provision of the technical/experimental service through the day to day organisation and supervision of a building team and will provide specific technical expertise in molecular biology, microscopy & image analysis.

Duties will include; 

  • Allocation of technical work and responsibilities to members of staff within the building team, providing advice and assistance to staff and/or students on all aspects of technical support services, 
  • Act as the Local Safety  Officer &  Radiation Protection Supervisor for the building/area ensuring that the  building users comply with work related legal and health and safety standards 
  • Ensuring that equipment in building/area is appropriately maintained & liaising with contractors and Estates personnel as required.

The successful candidate must have proven technical and/or experimental expertise in molecular biology & light, phase, uv, epifluorescence & other microscopy & imaging techniques, a sound understanding of Health and Safety regulations & experience working with radioisotopes including monitoring compliance with Local Radiation Rules, Ionising Radiations Regulations & Environmental Agency Regulations

Candidates must have a minimum HNC or equivalent, plus substantial work experience in a relevant role or proven track record with extensive work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role.
