Head of School of Education
UNSW is one of the world’s leading universities, currently ranked at 45 (QS ranking) and is known to be Australia’s powerhouse of cutting-edge research, teaching, innovation and creativity. UNSW was established in 1949 to teach and conduct research in the scientific, technological and professional disciplines, and with its current, broader disciplinary base, it remains committed to making a difference through pioneering research and preparing the next generation of talented global citizens for career success. UNSW is currently implementing a ten-year strategy to 2025 and our ambition for the next decade is nothing less than to establish UNSW as Australia’s global university.
At UNSW Arts & Social Sciences we explore big ideas, create new knowledge, and tackle critical social issues. Our Faculty is positioned as one of Australia's top three research Faculties in Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts and we are recognised for our interdisciplinary research with real social impact and community engagement. Established in 1960, the School of Education operates within the Faculty and is home to more than 1800 students, including over 100 higher degree students, and nearly 135 academic, administrative and school-based staff from all around the world. The School aspires to lead the study and practice of education nationally and internationally through academic excellence in learning and teaching as well as research, to influence public policy and improve community life through extensive social engagement and knowledge transfer, and to nurture global and ethical citizens who are passionately committed to the continuous improvement of education worldwide.
The School of Education is currently seeking a new Head of School. The Head of School plays a key role in facilitating delivery of the UNSW 2025 Strategy’s strategic priorities of academic excellence, social engagement and global impact. The successful candidate should bring academic credibility in an appropriate discipline, combined with breadth of academic vision, strategic thinking, and demonstrable experience leading and inspiring teams in an innovative, research-intensive environment. They will be able to develop partnerships both within and external to the School, along with driving diversity and inclusion within the School.
